Social media marketing is an important way to increase awareness of your product or services. By posting on various social media channels you can increase your website traffic, find new customers, gain followers and enhance your visibility.

1. Create different types of content


Your posts need to be varied and interesting to attract attention. This is why it is a good idea to use different types of content. Types include textual, quotes, images, infographics and videos.

2. Keep your posts consistent and up to date


To make social media users aware of your services posts need to be consistent. Posting at least one post each day will help users stay aware of your services and not forget about you. Posts also need to be up to date e.g. recent news stories, new blog articles, new products.

3. Focus on one social media channel


When starting out it is best to choose one or two social media channels to work on. If you try working on them all it can be too much to handle. Choose social media channels that target your audience the best. A good way to do this is to look at your competitors and see how many followers they have on each channel, the more followers the better suited the channel is.

4. Use Buffer


Buffer is a website that allows you to post onto multiple social media channels at once. So if you are posting to a few different platforms (Facebook, Twitter etc.) then this will save you a lot of time. You can also schedule when you want the posts to go live.

5. Create post lists


One of the most difficult things in social media marketing is thinking of post ideas. To help with this try to be constantly creating post lists. For example, for every blog you produce write down 20 post ideas to promote it.

6. Use Buzzsumo


Buzzsumo is a tool that allows you to analyse how previous posts have performed so you can improve your future posts. For example, if posts with images on them have performed very well then you should include more of these posts in the future.

7. Do your research


Find out what content your competitors are posting and what is popular. This can then help with your own posts.

8. Enhance social media profiles


Once you have set up your social media accounts work on your profiles. Make them attractive and informative to attract more interest and followers. Use a profile picture, give a good description of your company and include a link to your website.
